YAACOB IBRAHIM RULES HIMSELF OUT OF PRESIDENTIAL RACE

Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim has announced that he will not be running for president. He also had tips for upcoming presidential candidates.

“Whoever is willing to step forward to take on the job must continue to carry the ethos of multiracialism, which is important,” Dr Yaacob said. “He or she must continue to do their best to rally all Singaporeans, not just the Malay community.”

He added that aspiring candidates must see the presidential position as a “calling”, not just a job.

Yaacob was speaking to reporters at the inaugural Madrasah student awards ceremony.
