In the past two months, netizens have uncovered at least two job ads that openly discriminate against hiring of locals by specifying preference for a certain group of nationals.
The first – by Google – specifically asks for applicants who are fluent in Hindi while the second by Accenture states that graduates from US or Indian universities are preferred. Despite these blatant acts of discriminatory hiring, the MOM and current Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say have stayed silent.
This contrasts with the fanfare just before GE2015 when the PAP kept harping on the TAFEP (Tripartite Alliance for Fair Employment Practices). Are they just paying lip service to this issue or too afraid to take action due to Lee Hsien Loong’s CECA with India?
