SINGAPOREAN MAN IN PHILIPPINES SINCE 1990S IMPLICATED IN TERROR ACTIVITIES

The Ministry of Home Affairs has reacted to the Philippine’s Military statement today that stated Singaporeans are also involved in the IS led insurgency in the Philippines. MHA confirmed on Friday that a Singaporean man who has been in south Philippines since the 1990s has been implicated in terrorism activities there,

The man was named as Muhamad Ali s/o Abdul Rahiman @ Muawiya. However, MHA indicated that there is no confirmed reports that this man is involved in the ongoing armed insurgency in Marawi on Mindanao island. MHA also reiterated that they will work with the Philippines authorities closely to identify any Singaporean who may be involved in terrorism-related activities in the Philippines. the MHA takes a serious view of anyone who supports, promotes, undertakes or makes preparations to undertake armed violence regardless of where the violence takes place, the statement continues.

No further details of Muhamad Ali s/o Abdul Rahiman @ Muawiya was given by the Ministry.
