Mr Manu Sawhney, chief executive officer of the Singapore Sports Hub, is reportedly leaving the job just 2 years after he was hired.
This comes in the wake of fresh allegations of poor treatment of staff and a brash style of management.
According to a report by The Online Citizen, Mr Sawhney’s management style was described as a “reign of terror”. He had allegedly verbally abused a staff until one of them had a breakdown in the office. A police report over his abuse was nearly filed within months of his takeover.
A former colleague even told The Online Citizen, “Looks like his reign of terror has continued at the Sportshub. Did the Board not do their homework when they hired him and do a reference check about his actions against his staff when he was in ESS?”
These incidents were apparently routine, say insiders, who said that Mr Sawhney was especially abusive towards senior management. The response has been stark, with at least 8 senior management staff leaving the organization within the span of time that Mr Sawhney was at the helm.
