DESIGN OF T2 FLAWED, CAUSED SMOKE FROM SMALL FIRE TO SPREAD QUICKLY: EXPERTS

Dear A.S.S. Editor

Experts have weighed in on how a small fire at the Changi Airport Terminal 2 can cause so much smoke to the whole terminal itself, that it forced the evacuation of the whole terminal, and had the authorities forced to move flights to other terminals.

The experts said that it is the design of the terminal building itself was the main culprit on how the smoke spread to the whole building. According to them, the room which contained the air-con that as the cause of the fire, was not well ventilated. Due to this, the smoke from the small fire spread quickly to other parts of the terminal.

Experts have warned that having air-con in a room that is not well ventilated is not safe. This is clearly demonstrated in the Changi Airport fire, where the smoke spread quickly even though the fire was small and was contained immediately.

We have a world class airport, but there is actually a design flaw in the world class terminals we proudly call Singapore’s crown jewel.
