A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) major, Poh Siok Peng, 45, was convicted of insulting the modesty of a female colleague 20 years his junior. He was sentenced to 5 weeks jail today.

Poh, who has been with the SCDF for 20 years, admitted to taking upskirt videos of the victim over 2 years before he was caught in a sting operation on 9 March. The woman had suspected Poh was up to no good when he kept frequenting her office cubicle to chat, and realized what had happened after she saw a flashing light under her desk.

Although the judge agreed that Poh’s acts were premeditated, he took into account the defence lawyers’ arguments that the degree of intrusion against the victim was not high, as the victim wore “safety pants” and her panties or private parts were not captured on video.

Poh could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined.
