FOREIGNERS BANNED FROM ATTENDING PINK DOT 2017, ONLY SG & SPR ALLOWED

Pink Dot organisers announced that only Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) will be allowed to attend the gathering at Hong Lim Park. This is after the Public Order Act was amended and came into effect on 1st November.

The organisers and foreigners caught flouting the rules will be prosecuted and fined up to $3,000. Police now classify anyone who turns up at the Speakers Corner as part of the assembly

In previous editions of Pink Dot, foreigners were allowed to observe the event from the sidelines at Hong Lim Park but not allowed to participate. It also saw many international companies sponsoring the event.

Due to the new law, organisers now have to ensure all who turn up holds a pink NRIC or blue SPR ID card. They said that this decision was out of their hands and they were upset by this.
