A forummer suggested to impose a fine on those who chope tables! He thinks people should not claim the whole table for themselves especially if they are only part of a small group. He said those who do so should pay a fine of about $1,000.
He disagreed with those who use tissue packets, umbrellas or their staff pass to chope tables as he thinks someone should be physically there to reserve seats.
He said hawker centres can put up signs to warn people that there will be a fine. While he knows this is not exactly the best way to change people’s behaviour, he thinks imposing a fine is the most immediate and effective method.
