Dear A.S.S. Editor
Finally, it was announced that the long awaited redevelopment of Stamford Arts Centre (SAC) will begin next month. This after many false starts about the redevelopment plans. By the middle of next year, it will reopen as an arts space fully dedicated to traditional arts.
The centre is located on Waterloo Street opposite the Sri Krishnan and Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho temples. The centre will include a new multipurpose hall for performances and rehearsals, a shared studio, an artist-in-residency space, and new lifts and walkways connecting the three blocks within the compound. There are also plans for shops and F&B outlets on the ground floor.
The centre is long awaited amongst the arts community, as it will give them a centre for the many traditional arts groups to get together. Time for the arts to have another house they can proudly call their own.
