SMRT SAYS TRACK CIRCUIT FAULTS ARE THING OF THE PAST ONCE SIGNALLING SYSTEM RENEWED

Dear A.S.S. Editor

The fault for today’s MRT disruptions on the east west line and the north south line this morning was blamed on track circuit faults. Such faults, which are not the same as the more common track faults, arise because of ageing track circuits.

In a statement by SMRT’s vice-president for corporate information and communications Patrick Nathan, he said that the faults resulted in trains having to travel at a slower speed for commuter safety. But his most important statement came when he said “After we renew the signalling system, faulty track circuits will no longer cause prolonged delays for commuters.”

So, SMRT say one, basically when the signalling system gets renewed, SMRT said that faulty train circuits will be a thing of the past.
