Dear A.S.S. Editors
Soon, another of our old Singaporean icon is going to make way for modernisation. It is a necessary evil, if we are to move forward in a fast changing world. Next to go will be the Old Woodlands Town Centre.
Once, the Old Woodlands Town Centre was hailed as a gem of the north. Bustling bus interchange, 24 hour eateries, Cinema and a huge department store, all can be found there. It is a place to be then, where crowds are a normal feature there. But, like the name suggests, the town has become old. The bustling bus interchange is no more, having moved to the new town centre. 24 hour eateries are still there but where once it was filled with people from all walks of life, now it is just a port of call for the Malaysian riders before their long ride home, or when first arriving in Singapore. The cinema is long gone too, sitting vacant in the almost ghost town. The huge department store is also no more.
ICA will absorb the area to expand their checkpoint. The Old Woodlands Town, just like most things old in Singapore, will just remain memories.
