2 heavy metal beams came crashing down onto a sheltered sitting area and a pedestrian walkway below Block 77, Indus Road yesterday afternoon.
The incident took place at 12.45PM yesterday in an aging Housing & Development Board (HDB) estate.
According to a witness, the beams fell and caused such a loud crash that everyone in the area went to investigate what had happened. Many residents feared that someone had committed suicide or that an accident had happened, but then quickly realized that 2 metal beams had fallen off the building.
A resident shared her thoughts about the fallen beams: “The sheltered sitting area is just beside a small park, where there is usually a lot of people. Residents like to bring their dogs for walks there. Luckily, no one was there when the beams fell.”
Another resident wonders if the heavy rain and wind had dislodged the beams.
