Imam Nalla Mohamed Abdul Jameel, 47, has visited a synagogue in Waterloo Street yesterday to offer an unconditional apology for offensive remarks made against Jews and Christians in Singapore.
This is on top of his official announcement before a gathering of religious leaders in Singapore about his remorse over those same remarks.
At the synagogue, the imam presented Rabbi Mordechai Abergel with a copy of his open statement of apology, the same one he had delivered last Friday at the Harmony in Diversity Gallery in Maxwell Road before the other religious leaders.
Rabbi Abergel accepted the imam’s apology at the Maghain Aboth Synagogue. The Rabbi emphasized that Jewish and Muslims have a “very harmonious” relationship with strong bonds of friendship.
“This sends a message that these bonds are not affected, and we share so much more than what divides us,” he added.
