POLICE: 74 Y.O. WOMAN WAS NOT RESTRAINED, INVITES FAMILY TO VIEW CCTV FOOTAGE

The Singapore Police Force clarified that it did not restrain Madam Josephine Savarimuthu, 74, during her arrest over a town council related matter at a neighborhood police post. Madam Savarimuthu was only restrained at the hands and legs during her transfer between the police post and Changi Women’s Prison as part of standard procedure to prevent persons in custody from harming themselves.

They have invited Madam Savarimuthu’s family to come down and view CCTV footage of her arrest at their convenience.

The Police added that the video footage also showed that Madam Savarimuthu was alert, coherent and communicative when in Police custody and did not appear to be distressed.
