FOUR SG MEN CHARGED FOR RAPE OF TWO WOMEN IN TAIPEI

Four Singaporean men were charged with sexual assault in Taipei court yesterday. They were arrested in Taipei just as they were about to depart for Singapore on 13 Dec at Ximending train station.

The men, all aged 23, are identified by only their surnames: Lim, Ong, Tan and Lau.

Lau was an exchange student in a Taipei university while the rest were visiting him.

All four claimed that the sex with the two women was consensual. The men allegedly met two women at a dance club on Dec 11 and contacted them on social messaging app Line.

If convicted of rape, they face up to 10 years in jail each.
