MINDEF SCREW UP LEAKS PRIVATE NRIC DETAILS FOR THOUSANDS OF NS RECRUITS

Just a month after MINDEF suffered a cyber attack on its internet systems used at military camps which caused the theft of details belonging to 850 military personnel, the NRIC and photos of the latest cohort of NS recruits were published online. It took a day before MINDEF realised the error and took down the leak in NRIC details.

The recruits NRIC numbers were placed under their personal potraits and uploaded onto Facebook by the BMTC. BMTC commander Colonel Desmond yeo apologised for the gaffe saying that it was taken down by afternoon the following day when the mistake was realised.

Although Yeo did not reveal the number of recruits affected, it is believed that thousands of recruits were affected by this slip up.
