Taxi commuters in Singapore will be getting the short end of the stick soon as taxi giant ComfortDelGro will introduce Uber-style dynamic pricing, also known as surge pricing, where fares can possible skyrocket to five times the usual rate.
60% of cabs on the roads today are owned by ComfortDelGro.
This follows moves by Premier Taxi and Trans-Cab to introduce similar surge pricing. Both companies have informed the Public Transport Council of their plans.
