Dear A.S.S. Editor
The SAF had indicated that they will set up more collection points for used uniforms, to make it more convenient for national servicemen to dispose of them. This comes after recent reports surfaced of SAF military apparel being smuggled to Batam last November.
Disposal bins will be set up at entrances of selected camps near populated areas in the next two to three months. These bins will have a “one-way, non-return valve. Currently, NSmen can dispose of used military attire and equipment at SAF eMarts islandwide, as well as at the Army Logistics Base in Old Choa Chu Kang Road, which is not easily accessible to most. Finally, action is taken to ensure that the disposal of military uniforms can be easily done by NSmen. Apart from reports of the military gear turning up in Batam, we have also seen these unused military uniforms being worn by construction workers right here in Singapore.
Military uniforms should be shown the highest respect, for they are part of the SAF. We cannot allow military uniforms to be used indiscriminately. Military uniforms should only be worn by military personnel, when on duty, not by some construction workers or found being recycled in an Indonesia island.
