MATHS EXAM QUESTION REVEALS SG’S ECONOMIC & SOCIAL INEQUALITY

This maths question, shown in the attached picture, highlights the economic and social inequalities in Singapore. A gardener is sacked and replaced by a cleaner while the Mr Tan in the question just pays $820 for 20 days of work.

Would you be happy with a rate of $55/day (as a gardener) or with $820 for 20 days’ work?

Will our children grow up all wanting to be this “Mr Tan” and pay minimal rates for services and ignore the plight of the lower income groups in Singapore?

It may just be a maths question but it shows the Ministry of Education’s lack of EQ, especially in the current economic and social conditions in Singapore.
