Benjamin Yeo Bing Yuan, 25, decided to sell sex videos of his ex-girlfriend as he was in financial difficulties.
The IT administrator had lost a few thousand dollars from football betting. He took a bank loan in an attempt to recover his losses but he ended up losing money again.
His 23 year-old ex-girlfriend had begged him to not sell the videos as she was concerned for her reputation. Yeo exploited this fear by asking her for $4000 in exchange for deleting the video. The ex agreed but she asked for time to raise the money.
She asked to meet in person so she could witness him deleting the video. Yeo disregarded the pleas and insisted that she should transfer money to hisbank account. He even threatened her by saying how viral the videos would be.
His ex-girlfriend then made a report. Yeo was arrested at his home for attempted extortion.
He was sentenced to four months’ jail after admitting to threatening the ex with injury to her reputation.
