Dear A.S.S. Editor
News just came out that Singapore Airlines is actively reaching out to more nationalities for their cadet pilot recruitment drive. It says that this was to meet future needs.
Singapore Airlines has always been noted to hire Singapore citizens and Singapore PR as pilots, and it is believed to be the first time that SIA has publicly cast its net wide for cockpit crew. Seems now even SIA, the national carrier, is looking for foreign talent to fill up their pool of pilots. Does this mean that there are really no longer many Singaporeans who wants to be pilots? Or is our talent pool and labour force really dwindling?
This is not a good sign. While it was inevitable that foreign talent will be hired as pilots, didn’t expect it to happen this soon.
