TRANSPORT MINISTRY DECLARES MRT TRAIN RELIABILITY UP 30% IN 2016

Latest data by Singapore’s Ministry of Transport showed improvements on MRT train network performance. In 2016, trains clocked 174,000 km travelled between delays of more than 5 minutes, this is a 30% increase from the 133,000 km km travelled in 2015. These figures were released by the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Transport at the 3rd Joint Forum on Infrastructure Maintenance.

Downtown Line was the best performing MRT line and it achieved 260,000 km between delays. Circle Line was the next best performing train line.

The North-South and East-West lines performed the worse among the MRT lines. NS Line achieved just 156,000 km while ES line worsened the most dropping from 162,000 km in 2015 to 145,000 km in 2016.
