CHANGI AIRPORT SECURITY OFFICER FROM MALAYSIA STEALS FROM TRAVELLERS, JAILED 8 MONTHS

A Malaysia working as a Certis Cisco security officer at Singapore’s airport was sentenced to 8 months jail after he was caught stealing from passenger’s bags while he did security checks on their bags.

On 24 July last year, Esyaran Mogan was deployed and targeted a PRC lady who was undergoing security screening. As the x-ray machine picked up a scissors in her bag, Esyaran searched her bag and swiped her gold chain worth $1,164 as well as $350 in cash. The passenger realised the theft only when she returned to China.

Esyaran repeated his actions a week later and stole $106 from another passenger. This time a complaint was filed and worried that he would be caught, dumped the cash under the conveyor belt machine. CCTV footage was reviewed and the Malaysia security officer was arrested for 2 counts of theft.

Just last month, Certis Cisco announced plans to expand their foreign hires and source new security officers from Taiwan. It sparked a huge debate and Certis Cisco had to clarify saying that Singaporean officers were paid higher than their foreign counterparts.
