S’PORE TAXI DRIVERS IGNORE WHEELCHAIR BOUND PASSENGER

At 3.30pm this afternoon I tried to flag a taxi along Telok Blangah Hts. with my wife who was in a wheelchair.

The sky was overcast so u can imagine how desperate I was to get a cab as fast as possible.

When I saw a cab with green light on top approached u can guess how happy I was. But it turned to anger as it went past me totally ignoring me.

This SMRT cab bearing no. 5554 wasn’t the first and won’t be the last to ignore people in wheelchairs.

Another incident was on the first day of Chinese New Year. The culprit then was a Silver cab no. 8101.

Why they are so averse to wheel chairs only they can answer.

They are healthy now but in future they could be in worse condition than my wife and I fervently pray that they be so that they will think back to the day that they rejected wheelchair passengers.
