M’SIAN BUS DRIVER CHARGED WITH CAUSING DEATH OF 78 Y.O. MAN

Malaysian Wong Kum Fatt, 38, was on his first day of official duties when he struck Mr Wee Joon Kin, 78, while turning left at the T-junction of Lorong 6 Toa Payoh and Toa Payoh bus interchange.

He did not see Mr Wee when he turned left after the traffic light turned green, while Mr Wee had started crossing the road on a green man signal. The front of the bus struck Mr Wee, who fell to the ground and was run over.

Wong felt the left front tyre of the bus run over something, stopped the vehicle and found a lifeless Mr Wee lying near the centre undercarriage of the bus.

He was pronounced dead on the scene at 6.50AM.

Wong was jailed 6 weeks and banned from driving for 5 years. He is now unemployed.
