CRANE THAT WAS BEING TRANSPORTED HITS CTE CEILING, DRIVER ARRESTED

This afternoon (Dec 5), a 63 year-old man was driving a heavy vehicle when the crane it was transporting hit the ceiling of the Central Expressway tunnel (CTE).

The man was arrested. It is likely that the accident took place because the crane was not stowed properly. The accident took place at the CTE tunnel (towards SLE) at Upper Cross Street Entrance. The accident caused the Upper Cross Street entrance to the CTE to be closed.

Motorists were advised by the authorities to use alternative routes.
