On Thursday (Nov 24) the Singapore Customs seized more than 5000 bags of rice weighing about 129 tonnes at Pasir Panjang Terminal.
As the packaging bore markings that resembled a Singapore registered trademark, the rice was confiscated.
The proprietor of the trademark informed that the rice is counterfeit and is proceeding with legal actions against the importer for trademark infringement.
A notice has been lodged to stop the importation of the counterfeit rice from India.
