Chinese official in Hong Kong’s Customs and Excise Department seized several armoured vehicles, which look like the Singapore Armed Force’s (SAF) Terrex vehicles while they were being shipped from Kaohsiung, Taiwan to Singapore.
The shipment had made a brief stop in Hong Kong while on its way down to Singapore.
Netizens, some of whom have knowledge of a SAF military exercise in Taiwan, claim that the vehicles are indeed the same as those used in the exercise.
According to a news site, Factwire, the vehicles were closely watched by Chinese customs officers and investigators say that the vehicles were stopped because of suspicions of “arms smuggling”.
Factwire added that it was strange for the shipment to be detained in Hong Kong since the shipment was not even meant to be unloaded in the Hong Kong port. Its sources indicated that it was possible the containers were “unloaded by mistake” in Hong Kong and placed alongside general goods.
The owner of the shipment and its paperwork are still a mystery.
