For performing oral sex on “not less than 10 boys” aged between 10 and 15, Goh Jun Guan was sentenced to 12 years and six months’ jail, and given 15 strokes of the cane.
The court heard that the 27 year-old would first introduce himself as “Terry” to young boys and asked to play the Vanguard card game.
As he proved himself to be a good player, boys would ask him for tips to improve their skills. In response, Goh agreed in exchange for touching their genitalia or perform fellatio on them.
His first instance took place in 2013, where he invited a 10 year-old boy to his flat at Jurong West Street 71 to play the game. After the game, he took off the boy’s shorts and performed sex acts on him.
In another instance, a 12-year-old boy lost a game to Goh, who then ‘punished’ the boy by performing oral sex act on him in a public toilet at Pioneer Mall. His offences came to light when a 15-year-old boy informed the police that he was exchanging sexually explicit messages with someone over Facebook.
During mitigation, his lawyer said that he had been molested when young and felt happier and safer with young children and wanted to protect them. This was dismissed by Justice Woo Bih Li, who said that he “cannot accept that you feel happier and safer with younger children and that you want to protect them. If you have wanted to do so, you won’t have done what you did.”
