A Malaysian alcohol distributor, who is also a Singapore permanent resident, has been sentenced to 13 years’ jail and 20 strokes for raping his domestic worker.
The 45 year old man had raped his domestic worker twice over a period of 6 hours in Dec 2013. The offences took place in his Pasir Ris flat when his wife and two children were holidaying in Hong Kong.
The man was not named to prevent identification of the victim.
According to the prosecution, the man had returned home after a night of drinking. He then called for his domestic helper and then pulled her to his bedroom where he raped her.
After a few hours of sleep, he pulled the domestic worker (who was doing laundry) into his bedroom and raped her again.
The man pleaded not guilty to the charges and insisted that he and the domestic worker had consensual sex.
The man is now divorced from his wife.
