JAIL FOR ONE ILLEGAL RACER, PROBATION FOR OTHER RACER “FRM GOOD FAMILY”

A sales account manager, Malaysian Sugath Lum Wai Yuen, 30 was sentenced to jail for two weeks, fined $1,500 and banned from driving for a year for taking part in an illegal race along Seletar Link in July 2015.

Last month, the other racer, Jandej Goh (now 21 years old) received a probation sentence for participating in the same race. As Goh “comes from a good family”, he was placed under supervised probation – he has to remain indoors from 11pm to 6am. He pledged not to drive for 12 months, and will perform 180 hours of community service. His parents signed a $5,000 bond to ensure his good behaviour.

Lum, a Singapore permanent resident was behind the wheel of a white Audi S4 and Goh was driving hiis mother’s black Mercedes C2000 saloon.
