Singapore’s Ministry of Transport has deemed the new RM20 or $6.60 levy on Singapore vehicles as discriminatory against Singapore vehicles. MOT said that it was biased against Singapore vehicles only as it only applied at land checkpoint with Singapore.
MOT said that it will respond in kind and match the new levy towards Malaysian registered vehicles. More details will be announced in due course. Malaysia shares 10 other land checkpoints with Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei but only Singapore-registered vehicles are affected by the new levy.
