SDP PROPOSES FRESH IDEAS TO REDUCE WORKLOAD & STRESS ON TEACHERS

Responding to shocking statistics where 5,000 teachers quit over five years due to long hours, and stress, SDP proposed these alternative ideas to enhance teaching and learning in Singapore school.

1) Halve class-size to 20 students per teacher. Reduces teachers’ workload.

2) Introduce Dedicated-Teacher system. Cuts down admin work and allows teachers to follow pupils’ progress.

3) Broaden curriculum, reduce syllabus. Allows teachers to teach rather than be drill-sergeants
