During Friday morning peak hour, an SMRT train travelling on the East-West line decided to “take a break” causing travel delays across the line. Travel between Queenstown to Jurong East MRT experienced significant travel delays of more than 20 minutes and shuttle buses were activated to help ease the travel congestion.
MRT stations were packed full of people who wanted to enter the station but could not due to the backlog of commuters on the platform as a result of this train breakdown.
At around 8:23 am, SMRT announced that the train fault was cleared and normal service had resumed. Pity those commuters who needed to get to work early.
