On Tuesday, Samsung Electronics told its customers to stop using their Galaxy Note 7 smartphones until it completes investigations into spontaneous fires in its devices.
Telcos around the world have suspended the sale of Note 7 and airlines have banned the used of Galaxy Note 7 on their flights. Samsung is working with regulators worldwide to investigate the problem.
“Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device.”
As of press time, none of the local telcos Singtel, Starhub or M1 have made announcements on this latest directive. It is unclear how customers affected by this stop use directive will be affect and if Samsung will be providing replacement phones temporarily for affected customers.
