CHEN SHOW MAO RESIGNS AS WP’S TREASURER – TROUBLE IN THE BLUE CAMP?

MP for Aljunied, Chen Show Mao has quit his role as the party treasurer, a post that he has held since 2014.

Mr Chen quit during the Central Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday. While he has relinquished his role as the treasurer, he remains as a Council member.

Secretary-General Low Thia Khiang confirmed Mr Chen’s resignation. He said that queries related to Mr Chen’s resignation should be channeled towards Mr Chen directly.

Non-Constituency MP Dennis Tan who was deputy treasurer, would take on the role of the treasurer.

Observers indicated that this could be a sign that all is not well within the WP camp.

The resignation comes after Mr Chen challenged Mr Low for the post of Secretary-General in May this year. The cadre voted 61 to 45, in favour of Mr Low.
