M’SIAN OFFICIAL: S’PORE VEHICLES MUST BE SPRAYED WITH INSECT REPELLENT BEFORE ENTRY INTO M’SIA

Johor State Health Chairman Ayub Rahmat announced that the Health Department will take various measures to control the spread of zika infection, one of which requires all vehicles entering from Singapore to be sprayed down with mosquito repellent. Rahmat said these measures were necessary in light of the sharp increase in zika cases in Singapore.

“The vehicles we are referring to include lorries, public buses, school buses, private cars and trains. This is to ensure that no mosquitoes with the virus are brought into the country via the vehicles.”

Health officials have also stepped up cleanliness in areas frequented by Singaporeans to prevent the spread of the zika virus.
