At around 11:00 am on Tuesday morning, a group of protestors from the Pemuda Panca Marga (PPM) held a demonstration outside the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta to protest the alleged mistreatment of Mr Suryo Prabowo, a retired 3 star general at Changi Airport on 17 August 2016.
Despite ICA’s clarification that Mr Prabowo’s 30 minute delay was part of screening procedures for border security and not because he was “blacklisted”, protesters raged in front of the Singapore embassy and called for a public apology to Mr Prabowo.
Protesters were dressed in military fatigues and held inflammatory banners, with some calling for an apology or face the threat of war. Fortunately, Indonesian police kept order at the scene. First Secretary Au of the Singapore embassy met with protest leaders to receive their written letter of protest.
