FENG TIANWEI LOST COS SHE TOO EAGER TO WIN MEDALS FOR S’PORE

Despite a horrendous defeat at the olympics, national table tennis players Feng Tianwei, Yu Mengyu and Zhou Yihan arrived at Changi Airport today and were met with a strong reception, with many fans still lined up to give their encouragements.

Reeling from her defeat at Rio, Feng, who has two bronze medals and one silver medal from previous Olympic games, said: “I didn’t immediately recover from that (loss). But when I arrived and saw so many people who came to support us, who didn’t stop supporting us just because we did not win a medal, I feel encouraged.”

She added: “I regret that we didn’t get a medal. Personally, in the bronze-medal match against Japan, I felt I was too eager to win a medal for Singapore.”
