SCDF FOUGHT FIRE AT CK BUILDING OVERNIGHT – FIRE PUT OUT AT 6 AM

The fire at CK Building has been extinguished at approximately 6am this morning. *Damping down operation is currently in progress.

The firefighter who was injured yesterday has been discharged from hospital, and is on medical leave.

We thank all of you for your well wishes, prayers and words of encouragement throughout this massive firefighting operation. Your kind words have indeed spurred on the fighting spirits of our firefighters, comprising career officers and full time National Servicemen (NSF), as they battled the inferno.

*“Damping Down” is a term popularly used by SCDF firefighters to describe the application of water to wet burnt surfaces immediately after the fire is put out. This is to prevent any potential rekindle of fire from the hot burnt surfaces.
