MEDIACORP TO BROADCAST RIO OLYMPICS “LIVE”

Just a day before the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Mediacorp has announced that it will screen the Olympics “live”.

This new deal allows Mediacorp to broadcast the Games “live” from 6 Aug to 22 Aug on okto and four Toggle channels.

Mediacorp said the broadcast deal was made possible after negotiations with Dentsu, which had won the 2016 Olympic broadcast rights for Singapore and 21 other Asian territories in an International Olympic Committee. The new deal was reportedly struck at a cost lower than USD 6 million (SGD 8 million). That was the initial quote that had caused Mediacorp to baulk.
