LTA CHIEF QUITS, KANA FORCED TO HARAKIRI?

In a shocking announcement today, Land Transport Authority (LTA) chief executive officer Chew Men Leong has resigned from his post, less than 2 years after he joined the organization.

He made the announcement to LTA’s 6,000 strong staff members, and said cryptically that he was leaving for “personal career development” in the private sector. Some civil servants who were contacted said that the move is likely to be seen as a demotion of sorts. Some have speculated that Chew would be joining Singapore Technologies in a lower capacity role.

A board member of LTA and deputy secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Mr Ngien Hoon Ping, will assume Chew’s post.
