YANG YIN TROLLS COURTS, SAYS HE WON’T BE PLEADING GUILTY AFTER ALL

42 year-old PRC tour guide Yang Yin has sprung yet another surprise on the courts by announcing his decision to plead guilty to misappropriating $1.1m worth of assets from a Singaporean widow.

During an earlier hearing on 8 Jul, he said he would plead guilty to 2 counts of criminal breach of trust. But today, when asked by the District Judge to confirm his decision, Yang said through his interpreter that he would not plead guilty as there was much evidence he had yet to show.

Yang is accused of misappropriating S$500,000 from Mdm Chung Khin Chun in 2010, and another S$600,000 in 2012.

Yang claims that the money were all gifts from 89-year-old Mdm Chung Khin Chun in 2010 and 2012. He now claims that he told others that he used the money to buy paintings so as to avoid “jealousy and gossip”.
