HAWKERS SEEK OUT PAP MP TO SAVE THEM FROM SUNDAY ALCOHOL BAN AT LITTLE INDIA

Hawkers at Little India’s Tekka Market have received notices informing them that from next month onwards, sale of alcohol will be prohibited from 6PM onwards for safety reasons.

This has left several hawkers fuming. Several hawkers interviewed say that their earnings come mainly from the Sunday crowd, and commented that the alcohol ban would affect them badly.

One hawker said that banning alcohol would only drive business elsewhere, and would only disadvantage hawkers in Tekka.

The hawkers have sought the help of their MP to resolve their problem.
