American psychologist Mikhy K Farrera-Brochez, a child psychologist with a private practice here and a lecturer at two local polytechnics, allegedly hid his HIV positive status to gain an Employment Pass in March 2008.
The ministry would not have granted his EP if they had learnt of his HIV status.
In March 2008, Farrera-Brochez submitted a negative HIV test result to the Ministry of Manpower for his EP application. The test had used another person's blood. He did the same thing again in 2013 to fool the authorities.
He was charged in June this year with multiple offences over the course of 6 years, including lying to the MOM and the police about his HIV positive status, refusing to undergo medical examinations, using a fake passport and consuming drugs.
He was previously featured in The New Paper on 1 Jan 2010 for being a child prodigy and the youngest registered psychologist in the history of the American Psychological Association. He was then lecturing in child psychology at Temasek Polytechnic.
Sengkang MP He Ting Ru said she was dismayed that many Singaporeans are living with racism. "There is no place in our society for racism, sexism or xenophobia," she wrote.
