According to Chinese daily Shin Min, the suspect who robbed the Standard Chartered Bank branch at Holland Village has been nabbed in Thailand yesterday.

The suspect is an American citizen. News reports have conflicted over the exact nationality of the robber, with The Straits Times reporting that the man is actually an Australian citizen.

The robbery is the first to have struck Singapore in a long time. It has become a topic of intense discussion following the unusual method that the Caucasian robber used to make off with $30K worth of cash. He had allegedly used a simple piece of paper with the words, “I have a weapon” to rob the bank.

Shortly after the incident, Shin Min’s sources informed its editors that the Singapore Police Force had discovered a Gatorade bottle used by the robber at the scene. Later on, the same paper reported that the bank robber had snuck into Thailand.
