NSFS CLOCK 12 HOUR SHIFTS JUST TO PACK NDP FUN PACKS
I refer to the report by The Straits Times on 3rd July, "Soldiers work 12-hour days to get 300,000 funpacks ready for NDP 2016".
The report says that groups of soldiers at Kranji Camp 3 have been made to pack NDP fun packs with things like LED wristbands, Singapore scarves and snacks.
Even worse is that the report says these soldiers, who could be anyone's son, have been clocking 12 hour shifts just to get the 300,000 fun packs ready in time.
I want to question why there is a need to force our soldiers, who have better things to do in life than pack fun packs, to work long hours for this extravagant parade?
If our sons are going to spend their best years serving the country, shouldn't we make sure that they are actually fulfilling that purpose instead of just serving as cheap labour for SAF events?
