S’PORE POWER: ELECTRICITY TARIFFS UP BY 9.2%, UTILITY BILLS TO RISE

Singapore Power Services announced on Thursday (30 June 2016) that electricity tariffs for 2016 3rd quarter will increase by 9.2% or 1.59cents per kilowatt hour. SP Services claimed that this was due to a 26% increase in cost of natural gas used for electricity generation.

Electricity tariffs for households will increase from 17.68 to 19.27 cents per kWh for the 3rd quarter of 2016 and this would translate into an average monthly bill increase of $6.79. Electricity tariffs will be reviewed quarterly.
