GOVT: PUBLIC CARPARK RATES TO INCREASE BY 20% FROM DEC 2016

The HDB and URA announced on Tuesday (30 June 2016) that parking rates at public carparks will rise starting from December. For public car parks outside the restricted zones, charges will be raised by 10 cents from 50 cents to 60 cents per 30 minutes of parking. Season parking rates will be increased by $15 for open car parks and $20 for sheltered parking.

For other public car parks within the restricted zone, parking rates will increase by 20 cents from $1 to $1.20. Residents who buy season parking pass for a second car will pay $25 to $30 more per month.

Parking rates for motorcycles will remain the same. Motorists need to start using new coupons from 1 December 2016. New coupons will be on sale at HDB branches, URA centre and all coupon agents from early October.

Exchange of unused old parking coupons for new coupons can be done from early October. Motorists are required to top up the difference in value.
