The residents of Blk 302A Woodlands Street 32 were stuck at their void deck from 6pm to 10pm after all three lifts for the block broke down at the same time. Elderly residents and those on wheelchairs were most affected by this multiple breakdown. MP Halimah Yacob came to the scene at 9pm to speak with affected residents.
One old man with a pacemaker was so pissed with the situation that he forced himself to climb up to his flat on the 21st floor because he just bought frozen salmon from the market. Neighbours offered to help him but they only managed to reach the 8th storey before giving up.
The town council provided chairs for residents and gave water as they waited for technicians to repair the lift. Apparently, the lifts went offline due to a power outage.
